Ko-ku (e) rs\n [F concours d’elegance, lit., competition of elegance] (1950): a show or contest of vehicles and accessories in which the entries are judged chiefly on excellence of appearance.
Since its inception in 1981, Concours Collision Centres has grown from a single 3,000 square foot location, to two state of the art collision repair centres.
The first location began with one employee and operated out of premises totaling 3,000 square feet. By 1985, the business had steadily grown so the founder moved his staff to an 8,000 square foot facility. In 1990, the company relocated to its present 30,000 sq. ft. building in the southeast of Calgary. In 2001, Concours opened its second location in the northwest quadrant of the city. Concours Crowfoot has now grown to over 18,000 sq. ft.
Since 1981, Concours has been involved in the Automotive Service and Repair Association of Alberta (ASRA). Concours founder served as president of the ASRA from 1995 to 1997. The founder was also instrumental in the development and implementation of the current apprenticeship training program in Alberta.
In 1993, 1994, and 1995 Concours was one of three finalists for the North American Collision Business of the Year award. In 1994, the founder was runner up for the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Small Business Owner of the Year award. The Better Business of Southern Alberta presented Concours with the Ethics award for the medium size business category in 2003.
In 2004 Concours was the first collision repair center in Canada to implement Lean manufacturing processes. These processes have allowed Concours to consistently produce quality repairs, combined with exceptional customer service.
